Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how FoCoCo, operated by Quantum Surprise, Unipessoal,
LDA (“we”, “us”, “our”), uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when users interact
with our mobile app and any related web-based services, including landing pages, in-app
web views, or browser-accessed coaching content.
While FoCoCo is primarily a mobile application, certain features and analytics use web-
based technologies that fall under the scope of cookie regulations (e.g., GDPR, ePrivacy
Directive). Certain features and analytics (such as displaying AI-generated content in web
views or managing initial user onboarding) use web-based technologies.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites or services you visit. They
help recognize your device, remember preferences, and enhance functionality. Cookies
can be:
First-party cookies: Set by the website/app you are visiting
Third-party cookies: Set by services integrated into the app (e.g., Google
Analytics, Firebase)
2. Does FoCoCo Use Cookies?
Yes, but only in limited, controlled ways:a. In the Mobile App
The app itself does not use cookies in the traditional browser sense, but it uses:
Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: To measure usage and monitor
performance
Device IDs and persistent tokens: For login/session management and
insights
These technologies function similarly to cookies by storing information on your device or
identifying your device to help us recognize you, maintain your session, and understand
how you use the app. They are treated equivalently to cookies under certain privacy laws
for the purposes of data protection.
b. In Web-Views or Browser-Based Content
If you access any of the following through in-app webviews or external browsers:
AI-generated reports (hosted via web)
Web-based onboarding or upgrade pages
Marketing landing pages (e.g., fococo.ai)
…cookies may be used for:
Remembering user preferences
A/B testing and product improvement
Anonymous analytics (Google, Firebase, Cloudflare)
User behavior tracking (only with consent)
3. Types of Cookies / Technologies We Use
Category
Purpose
Strictly Necessary
Login sessions, authentication tokens (Firebase Auth). These are essential for
the app's basic operation, enabling core functions like securely logging you in
and managing your active session. They cannot be turned off in our systems.
Performance
App crash reports, load times, and usage (Crashlytics, Analytics)
Analytics
Aggregate engagement metrics (Google Analytics). Google Analytics uses _ga
for aggregate engagement metrics
Functionality
Language preferences, VARK profile reminders
Consent
Stores your cookie or AI usage consent status in local storage on your device
(for web views) or in your user profile on our backend (for mobile app
onboarding)
Retention Period
See section 6
4. User Consent & Control
When required, depending on your location and the specific service you are accessing, we
will manage your consent as follows:(e.g., web landing pages in the EU/UK), we will:
Display a cookie banner on first visit
Allow users to accept or manage preferences
Store consent in local storage and honor their choice
For mobile app users, consent is collected through in-app onboarding for tracking and AI-
related analytics, via clear prompts during the initial setup process.
Users can:
Disable device tracking in system settings (iOS/Android)
Withdraw consent via Profile > Settings > Privacy
Use browser settings to block or delete cookies (for web views)
5. Third-Party Services That May Set Cookies or Use Trackers
Firebase (Google): Authentication, Firestore, Crashlytics, Analytics
OpenAI: May log metadata of API calls (not user-identifiable)
Google Analytics: Web traffic and product performance
Cloudflare: Content delivery and performance caching
While each service operates under its own policies, FoCoCo carefully configures these
integrations to minimize the collection and processing of identifiable data by these third
parties wherever possible, consistent with their functionality and our privacy commitments.
6. Retention Period
Cookies and equivalent tracking technologies are retained for durations consistent with
their function:
Session tokens: Expire after logout or inactivity (e.g., 30 mins)
Firebase analytics: Up to 14 months (configurable)
Consent logs: Retained for proof of compliance (up to 5 years)
7. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our technology or
regulations. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or website.
